TANJA MASTROIACOVO

(Italy, 1984)

 

Professional art restorer, teacher, freelance researcher and artist.

 

She does research in the field of visual, literary and performing arts, deepening the expressive nuances of syncretism between tradition and the present. In constant dialogue between roots and transcendence, she looks to the exploration of personal identity and its relationship with society, taboos and ancestral topics. A dialectical game between classical and profane that seeks to structure the semantics of creatures and symbols from different cultures and contexts, while researching the mutual connections between the self and collective dynamics.

 

Her studies in the arts and conservation of cultural heritage have allowed her to build a solid experience to understand and explore the existing connections between materials, forms and concepts. Her specialty is artistic techniques, with a particular attention to the old and traditional. In her works, these techniques are adapted to the expressive demands derived from current themes, the deepening of which stems from personal concerns and experiences. Her works are aimed at generating a means of reflection and communication with and for society. Critical analysis and the study of the artistic phenomena necessary for decision-making in the field of heritage conservation have come together with their demands to deepen the dynamics that govern the creative process.

  

The artist thus proposes reflections based on the game between what is passively assumed and what is possible to be put into discussion, materializing her desire, perhaps, towards an introspection forgotten by the contemporary being. Since 2008, her works have been exhibited continuously in Europe and Mexico, in public and private spaces.
